Elderberry ( Organic)
Pickup currently not available
Optional add-ins: 1 cinnamon stick, 2-3 slices of fresh ginger, or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon
Optional sweetener: Raw honey or agave syrup to taste (add after straining and cooling slightly)
Instructions:
Boil the mixture. Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Simmer the mixture. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot partially, and let it gently simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. This cooking process is essential for safety.
Strain the tea. Remove the pot from the heat and pour the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into mugs or a pitcher to remove the berries and any spices. Discard the solids.
Sweeten and serve. Allow the tea to cool slightly (especially if using raw honey to preserve its beneficial properties) and stir in your preferred sweetener and a squeeze of lemon juice, if desired.
The tea can be enjoyed warm, or stored in the fridge and served cold as an iced tea.
